MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — Grab a towel, yoga mat, and comfortable clothes, and head to Bruce’s Beach on Friday to attend “A Sound Healing Experience.”
South Bay Cultural Club is hosting its first in-person sound bath event in partnership with Bloom Holistic Healing from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, May 14 at Bruce’s Beach, 2600–2698 N. Bayview Drive, Manhattan Beach.
Tired of the ‘heaviness’ caused by the community divide surrounding the Bruce’s Beach situation, Culture Club South Bay founder Allison Hales believes it’s time to heal and connect.
“It’s been a really brutal year for many of us, and I hope this gathering can take the toxicity out of the way by providing healing and connection within the Manhattan Beach community,” Hales told Patch.
The Culture Club South Bay was created to celebrate global culture and race, according to Hales. The group held a variety of virtual community events throughout the year that featured programs such as gospel singers, authors, ethnic dishes and presentations on Bruce’s Beach.
A sound bath is a meditative experience in which those present are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by a variety of healing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls and even voices.
“There will be three healers in attendance, so those who attend will get the full experience,” Hales said. “Jennifer Bloom will begin the program by leading everyone through breathing exercises to free the body of any tension.”
