Former senior IAS official and Culture Secretary Jawhar Sirkar shares morphed image of PM Modi

Former top bureaucrat Jawhar Sircar, who was also CEO of Prasar Bharati and India’s Culture Secretary, today (June 7) released a tweaked image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attack him alleging crony capitalism . Sircar then proceeded to delete said tweet after criticism from social media users.

Tweet deleted from Jawhar Sircar

In the tweet, Sircar posted a photo where Prime Minister Modi could be seen bowing with clasped hands to Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani.

Sircar, while calling Prime Minister Modi “permanently sullen”, alleged the presence of “two-way relationships, favors and dealings”.

The photo in question is actually not real and Nita Ambani’s face was actually photo-shopped onto social worker Deepika Mondol’s face. The said image was clicked in Rashtrapati Bhawan in 2018.

Sircar who calls himself a ‘free soul after 42 years in the IAS and government’ proceeded to remove Prime Minister Modi’s photo after being called out.

He now has share a new tweet claiming he had ‘terrible experiences’ as two photos he shared of Prime Minister Modi turned out to be fake.

Incidentally, Sircar has also spread fake news in the past, including falsely alleging that a portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose unveiled in the Rashtrapati Bhawan was actually that of actor Prasenjit.

He has yet to delete the tweet, although the lie has been denied.
