Before he rose to fame in the band Culture Club, he first performed under the stage name Lieutenant Lush when he was with the band Bow Wow Wow.

George eventually left the group and started his own group called Sex Gang Children, but changed the name to Culture Club. Famous for singles such as Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, Boy George became an international hit.

The band broke up in 1986, but that didn’t end Boy George’s career. He started singing his own songs and released singles such as Everything I Own and The Crying Game.

He has also written two autobiographies – Take It Like A Man in 1995 and Straight in 2005. He recently ran The Voice UK as a coach for the 2016 series.

Very little is known about Boy George’s current personal love life. In 2015, he revealed on Instagram that he was single in a caption posted “#freedom”.

However, in the past, his relationship status has gotten him in trouble for all the wrong reasons. In 2009, the singer-songwriter was sentenced to 15 months in prison for falsely imprisoning a male escort.

Boy George was released early after serving just four months of his sentence and described prison as a “life-changing” experience. In terms of net worth, he is apparently expected to be worth around $50m (£40,520,300).
